We had a great rest at our awesome friends Eric and Eva’s in Switzerland, and today we’re heading to Salzburg Austria. I’ve never been there before so I’m pretty stoked. It’s a 6 hour drive so not too bad. Or so we think. In Europe you forget how many people there are, so traffic jams are frequent. That’s exactly what happened on this drive, 6 got stretched to 8 involving lots of traffic, especially driving past Munich, council work and being stopped by Police. In this instance, I was driving with my headphones in as Higgsy was sleeping until a silver 5 Series beamer jumps in in front of me with bells, whistles and lights telling me to pull over, in which I do so. At first the cop was pretty annoyed at me, because apparently he was trying to pull me over for a bit and I had no idea having my headphones in ha. Anyway, they were cool and just searched for the usuals, drungs and people smuggling then we were off our way. I asked him if driving with headphones was illegal after apologizing for not stopping, and he said it’s not illegal but it’s better to not do it. I hadn’t finished the album I was listening too thank you, so I did that soon as we hit the road again.
This while time out ETA was at least an hour late to soundcheck, and doors were soon after so it wasn’t good. We actually stopped earlier in the day for some wifi to let our booker know that we were running late. We arrived at the Rockhouse Bar and the crew and support band weren’t phased at all. They were all cool and helped us load in for the quickest soundcheck and set up in history. All went well. We were staying upstairs in the venue so we chilled there for a bit and our food was actually brought up too. I love the hospitality if touring in Europe. Soon after about a 15 minute chill, I went down to start sorting our new merch delivery. We needed a stock up as Spain bought a lot. Ghous Came Knockin’ start the night with their thrashy/metal set. Great bunch of lads, then we changover and have a hit. The crowd seems a little timid at first then liven up a bit, was a good show. Did the merch thing for a while then it just became about hanging with the last from the first band. They have a rehearsal studio upstairs so once we packed up we sat up there blaring tunes and drinking and whatever else. Was great fun. We were staying in the same building so once it was time to jet, it wasn’t far at all, and the fact that we didn’t have to check out in the morning meant an actual sleep in. You bloody beaudy.
We forgot to take a crowd shot again! So this is what the bar looks like, pretty cool.
