This morning we got to sleep in a little, to 12 which was good. A 2 hour drive which is good. We load the gear out after leaving it in the venue, and grab some lunch from a small store we find is open. Of course the food is great and we head to the final show of the Spanish leg if this tour. Sad, but it’s been a hard slog too. Torredembarra is the location and we arrive at the bar, La Traviesa.

Now La Traviesa first of all is fenced off. It’s not your normal location. Promptly a dude comes running down the street to open up the gate, he happens to be the sound guy. We drive in the van and it’s a little wooded place, surrounded in dirt with tables and chairs everywhere. There’s a concrete stage that hasn’t been swept in probably 45 years, and our first thoughts were holy shit is that where we’re playing?? Turns out no. The girl who runs the bar rocks up, and opens the place. We then see something we’ve never seen before in a bar.. saw dust. Everywhere. It’s a style of bar over here, where they cover the floor in saw dust. It’s a way to keep it clean? Haha, when everyone spills drinks it absorbs it all. So anyway the bar is small, the stage is small but will fit us and there’s just a vocal pa. There’s also 5 big dogs that live here and run around everywhere. The sound guy speaks about 3 words in English so soundcheck is like a sign language convention and we eventually get it sorted. These small gigs are hard for us as we’re so loud, when the vocal PA stuggles, Higgsy can’t hear himself over the drums, and the drums drown out all the amps if they’re not mic’d up either. SO I gotta behave and play softer, which isn’t my bag at all. We have some dinner there and the staff are nice, we end up talking to a legend of a man who writes for Metal Hammer Magazine in Spain, but travels everywhere to see bands. He drove two hours to see us tonight.

The bar slowly fills and sure enough like they said, it was packed! We get on and have fun with the set, and everyone is digging it. A few blocked ears but you get that. It was a great show overall, and we get more hamburgers afterwards and a few beers. We’re taken to our accom which is someone’s house and get a night’s sleep. Thank you Spain, what a tour.

Tomorrow we make our way to Austria via Switzerland. New country to visit and play in, bring it on!
